Nintendo 3DS - Truly Fantastic

3DS R4 Flash CardThe Nintendo 3DS is definitely a great innovation of technology. One of the major obstacles that can be encountered with the 3D technology would be the need to use glasses. It is something that is very uncomfortable to wear while you play games and even you are watching movies. But now, there is no need for you to worry about it because of Nintendo.

The things that I am looking to find out as soon as possible are:

  • is Nintendo going to release Gameboy Advance games as '3DS Ware'
(GAMEBOY classic and GBC emulated games will be available for download, but currently there is no word on the GBA titles and I do want to play Pokemon Emerald, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance or Zelda Minish Cap, Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis and Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones on the new screen - preferably in 3D enhanced version)
  • will R4 DS Flash Cards work on Nintendo 3DS so I can run emulated NES, Pocket SNES Advance, MAME and with the increased CPU and Video processing power also N64 roms on 3DS. Will there be SuperCard 3, AceKard 3DS, EZ-Flash , Cyclo3DS and armies of clones of R4 3DS? Or will it be some yet unknown team that will be the first to crack the new console?
  • how soon will we see a 3D TV Tuner for 3DS ?
Wi-Fi downloadable 3D movies for 3DS have been announced, but how about full length Films and TV Shows over the air.
  • how long will it take to Hack 3DS and unlock the Region Lock that Nintendo imposed. As seen on GBA and NDS there are titles that come out only in one region and are never released in others, but up until now there was a simple solutio - order online and import it from Japan, Europe or USA - depending on where you live. With region lock this option is not available until the N3DS is hacked or some Action Replay device unlocks N3DS and make it region free and able to play backup copies of games.
  • how easy is it going to be to Mod 3DS?
will we need a mod chip or softmod or wil it end up as easy at it was with NDS flash carts where all you had to do was copy the nds roms to a microSD card and put that in DS.

Update: Nintendo 3DS Hacked, Unlock / Jailbreak 3DS! Play ROMS, MP3s, Video and Emulators!

R4 3DS hacked

All Nintendo R4 3DS flash cards can play DS & DSi Roms, play MP3 music as well as emulate the more simple 8-bit NES, GBC and SEGA consoles and some 16-bit games from SNES and Genesis with limited speed and no sound, but when it comes to running GBA roms on 3DS and DSi XL you will need the SuperCard DSTWO 3DS flash card with a built-in coprocessor that adds the extra processing power needed to run GBA, SNES and MAME emulated games at full speed and with sound. SC3DS also adds DivX, XviD, Avi, MKW and even WMV video file support. Regular R4i Cards, R4 3DS and AceKard 2i can play video, but you will need to use a software tool on PC to convert the video to a format that the MoonShell DS media player can read. With SuperCard DSTWO there is no need to alter the files that you get from Torrents - just place them on the micro SDHC card, put that into the R4 3DS SuperCard and play on 3DS or DSi or the old NDS.

The 3DS is certainly a ground-breaking handheld platform. One of the games that you can possibly play on it is Animal Crossing where you get to see the world right before your eyes where there are actual spatial differences happening between the game’s characters as well as the trees. You will surely get astounded with the game Nintendogs+Cats. Here, you will have the chance to throw at your pup a boomerang and a disc and the puppy will give it back to you. As you get to see your puppy slap one of its paws on your screen in which you would have to scratch its head as it bows, that is the time that you will truly be amazed with Nintendo’s innovation.

However, if you are going to try and look beyond the beauty of its screen, you will eventually see the possible issues that you are going to have with the Nintendo 3DS. Though you can see how nice its 3D effect is, still this may require several behaviors on the person who is going to play with it. As you play a game, your focus should simply remain on the upper part of the screen because if you try to look around it, or just at the screen’s lower part, well, immediately the effect of the 3D gets broken. What happens is that you are going to view both of the images. Though this may only happen for a short span of time, still it destroys the illusion. It would also be better if you are going to keep your 3DS quite distant from the face. As you move it in front of you, or even farther away, as well as move it from side to side, you would have to adjust its slider for the 3D effect to another position. Keep in mind that this is not the way that you should be playing any handheld console. What you need to do is to just hold it in a fixed position.
Any player will agree that in order to make you love technology even more, it has to work. With this case in point, this could probably be the most appropriate way as to how you should describe the Nintendo 3DS, it definitely works. Its 3D is not really mind blowing. However, it is able to offer a remarkable depth, as compared to other games that your hands could get on. You may realize that there are certain games for the 3DS that are better as compared to others which include Resident Evil as a weak game while the best would probably be Metal Gear Solid. Another thing that you may want to take note of is the system’s form factor which is really great to utilize. The two cameras found on it are also great and even if the 3D slider looks cheap, still that would not be enough reason to complain about it.

The moment that you first heard about Nintendo’s 3DS, you might not have thought what to expect from it. Though it would not have been necessary, players will surely be intrigued as to how it can work without the glasses and at the same time, be able to improve its visuals. If you have gone to a show floor, you surely got impressed with the 3DS. As you play Metal Gear, it would showcase how great the visuals are. The Snake was at its finest as well and because the environments were in 3D, you would feel as if it came alive. As for the Nintendogs, a lot of people will surely have fun playing it. You can also see that the game works well and it is nice to see that the Labrador on the screen would really play with you. Even if you currently have a Nintendo DSi, you would surely want to still get your hands on the Nintendo 3DS.
The list of games available for the Nintendo 3DS is also impressive. You will see that aside from first-party party support, it also has a lot in store for the players when it comes to third-party support. Because of this, you will definitely get your hands full with the different titles that will be available at the booth. The Pilotwings game definitely stands out, and the game Kid Icarus will surely put you at the edge of the seat. Two other great games would be Steel Diver as well as Metal Gear Solid. What is really exciting to anticipate for would be the different games of the SNES as well as the NES. These games are surely classic hits and definitely to watch out for whether you may be a kid or a kid at heart.
