NEO Flash Card 3in1 - NDS NeoFlash Cart
3 in 1 - This flash card can be used in GAMEBOY ADVANCE™ - GBA SP™ - NINTENDO DS™. NeoFlash card can be used for GBA roms and all the emulators that have been created for GBA and you can load DS.GBA, NDS.GBA and NDS roms to it. HomeBrew and Commercial. I think that soon this kit will become 4in1 - that is with the release of GAMEBOY micro you will be able to use it in 4 different consoles (that is we don't count all GBA ADVANCE versions as 1)
For Neo Flash to work with NDS ROMS you need ONE (any) original Nintendo DS game. DS game card in the Magic Key has to have the same Save Game size as the NDS ROM you have on the gba flash card. For example to play WarioWare Touched! that has a 64Kbit save - you can use Super Mario 64 DS. Keep in mind that when you save the game it will overwrite whatever you had saved on the card that is in NeoFlash Magic Key and so you can loose all your game progress.(Mario GameSave and unlocked Mini-Games in this case).
NeoFlash 512Mb card and Slim Loader III flash writer is a GBA Flash Card analog to the XG2 Turbo and XGflash2 2005 we have already reviewed. ( XG2 2005 Slim and XG2 Turbo) In GBA Mode NeoFlash inherits all the features of XG2 - in fact you can choose to use the XG2 software as it has some features in it that NeoTeam has not added to the NEO Power Kit. Both software packages look the same, except XG2 flash doesn't have a special NDS mode for flashing Nintendo DS roms.
At the beginning we were skeptical about NEOteam using XG2, but as it turned out it is not bad at all! They didn't have to spend time reinventing what was already there and as a pleasant sideeffect we can use XG2 Turbo 512M and 1Gb cards to play commercial NDS ROMs!
Note that 256M XG Flash cards including the PRO card in the above image will work only with the FreeWare roms and Nintendo Wireless DEMOS - you need a 512M / 1G Neo or XG2 card to play COMMERCIAL NDS ROMS like Mario 64 DS and Metroid.
Currently 512M and 1Gb Neo Flash Cards are available. On the box it states that NeoFlash will come in sizes from 128Mb to 4Gb. Larger cards like 2Gig and 4G would be useful only when the Neo Team or another developer comes out with a Multi-ROM-Loader. At this point you are able to load only one commercial NDS roms at a time, and as their maximum size is 1GigaBit there is no need for a card larger than that. In fact neo card we have is 512Mb and we also tested 1Gb XG2 turbo with the Magic Key. In both cases most of the card stays empty:
0005 - Ridge Racer DS (USA) (by Golden Sun Team) 256 Mbit | EEPROM (64Kbit)
0004 - Catch! Touch! Yoshi! (Japan) (by Golden Sun Team) 128 Mbit | EEPROM (4Kbit)
0003 - The Urbz - Sims In The City (USA) (by Golden Sun Team) 256 Mbit | EEPROM (64Kbit)
So where the size does matter is when you store multiple GBA and emulated NES / SNES / SEGA etc roms on the Neo Flash. That is when you can use up all of the space and if you have a little bit left upload some images or text files ;)

NeoFlash 512Mb Flash Card
Works with Commercial nds roms
XGflash2 PRO 256M + 64M Zip
Only for Homebrew and nds demos
(Same story with the regular XG2 Turbo 256M cards that we tested - demos and pd nds roms work, but not commercial)

NeoFlash FAQ
Q: How do one load games into the blank DS cart, is there like a piece that you place the blank cart in and then connect it to your pc and then transfer the roms?
A: There is no blank DS cart ; you use an original game in the "magic key" and put the DS programs on the GBA flashcard.

NEO flash cards and Neo MK5 and MK6 do not work on the new updated DSi console, and firmware updates do not help, but there is a new generation of nds rom backup tools that work on DSi:
R4i SDHC, SuperCard DSONEi, AceKard 2i, iTouch2, DSTTi and EZ-Flash Vi. In addition to being compatible with all versions of the DS they can now work with SDHC cards that can hold as man as 32GB of nds roms. (Older model microSD cards have a 2GB memory size limit).
